Serto - a Syriac (Aramaic) Alphabet
For the use with TeX/LaTeX I developped a METAFONT based font for
Serto. It is currently in an early state, but you may use
it and you are
welcome to undertake any enhancement and sent these to me!
N.B.: if you want to write more than isolated words in Serto, you need
a recent latex which has the TeX-XeT extension
(comes usually with TeX distributions such as
texlive as pdflatex) and python to run

- the newest version of
will always be here as a tar'ed and
gzip'ed file. (This is the Version 1.0 as of 31st March 2013.)
- For Ubuntu 12.04 you can use the debian - package serto-1.0.deb.
This package works also on Ubuntu 10.04, and probably on other Ubuntu or Debian platforms as well, but I only dispose of
Ubuntu 10.04 and 12.04 for testing. The debian package does not contain the Metafont source files.
- I tried to produce an rpm package serto-1.0-1.noarch.rpm on a CentOS Virtual machine (without any warranty).
Possibly this works on Fedora or Suse Linux as well (not texted).
- This version will be uploaded to the CTAN server,
